Painter, magical realism

Raymundo González

Raymundo González, born in Veracruz, Mexico, grew up surrounded by European and Indigenous cultural influences that shaped his life and work. He showed a talent for drawing from an early age, despite his family's concern about his future as an artist. He was sent to study architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Morelos, where he discovered the richness of Indigenous culture that transformed his artistic vision, and he fell in love with Cuernavaca, where he has lived ever since.

His style, described as magical realism, combines the real and the fantastic, capturing Mexico's cultural diversity. Inspired by his architectural training and the country's artistic heritage, his work brings together forms, patterns and colors that celebrate everyday life and Mexican festivities.

González has created a unique visual language, influenced by folk art and the revolutionary murals, building a bridge between past and present. His work captures the essence of Mexican life with joy and depth, blending Indigenous heritage and European tradition in images full of symbolism and color.
